Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the skills needed for effective working online have come to the forefront of many people’s attention. Researcher Alexandra Kolm[1] and colleagues conducted a systematic review of empirical studies of this and found that 6 competence domains emerged for effective virtual teamwork:
- ICT competencies
- Intercultural and cultural competencies
- Communication and language competencies
- Self-management and organization competencies
- Collaboration competencies
- Domain-specific competencies
Competences 2–5 are vital for all teamwork but can be made more complex when this teamwork is online.
